Vancouver to Kamloops, British Columbia

We wanted to return our rented car to the Vancouver Railway Station, so that is where we picked it up early in the morning. The car was a Toyota RAV4 SUV. Armed with this steed, we wound our way out of Vancouver and headed along Canada 1 east for our midday meeting with Sharon Waldron, who lived near Harrison Hot Springs.

I had been in contact with her over the years as we share common great-great-grandparents in William Watson and Elizabeth Blong from Portarlington. We have both found it difficlt to get information on Portarlington and the Blong & Watson families, so a pooling of data has been sensible.

Sharon and her mother gave us lunch, and we then resumed our drive, having taken the obligatory photos for the family album.

The Wedgewood B&B in Kamloops was a couple of miles out of the town and perched on a hill, part of a new golf course development.

Wedgewood B&B Kamloops They say about themselves "Lovely home at Sun Rivers Resort located on an award winning golf course. Rooms are air-conditioned. The deluxe king bedded room with satellite TV and large en-suite bathroom boasts a great city and valley view. Our queen room has private bathroom adjacent or bathroom can be shared with the twin room for families and friends travelling together. All rooms open to spacious guest lounge with large screen plasma satellite TV, fridge, coffee making facilities and computer for guest use". Wedgewood web site

The result was that it was not possible to eat dinner at anywhere other than Hoodoos at the local golf course. There were no other shops or restaurants in the area within walking distance, and I did not fancy getting back into the car to drive down to Kamloops. Dinner was a disaster, bad food, bad service, and short changed to boot.

Next morning we had a brief wander round Kamloops and took in the farmers market, before heading on to our next stop near Revelstoke
