The ship arrived offshore this small community of 500 people at 7:30 am. Local performers were ferried by the ships zodiacs onto the ship and at 9 am there was a cultural show, very well attended, and very authentic in the show lounge.

Then we went ashore and had a guided walk through the town: our guide was a 55-year-old man called Buddy who was slightly withdrawn but we still learnt things about the local lifestyle. A lot of the houses seem to be boarded up, the Catholic Church was seemingly abandoned, but we were able to enter the Anglican church. The community actually had a nine whole golf course. constructed several years ago by a Hudson Bay Company manager who had a passion for golf. We ended up in the community centre where people were exhibiting their sewing and artistic skills: the gloves they sewed where to die for but not necessary in Spain on returning to the beach , a fresh Arctic char had been filleted and we were invited to sample this raw fish. Chris did not really appreciate this before we went back to the ship.

Chris had had a very enjoyable swim. We lunched in the Terrassa for once and then Chris played Bridge for an hour before going to lecture by Alberto . David had an interview with Sonia, the hotel manager, while Chris had a swim. This was initiated by her and she was anxious to know what we thought of the "entertainment" on board
Then afternoon tea , a little reading and off to the observation lounge to see the passage of the ship away from this tiny community. Recap and briefing, Dave revealed that we would not be going to see the ice edge and that really the next four days would all just be at sea with seemingly little to see: not good news
We had dinner with Mila at the Terrassa and thoroughly enjoyed our conversation.. Coffee in the panorama lounge was brief as the two musicians on board were giving a very noisy Brazilian show.
