Aug 29 at Uummannaq, Greenland

The ship arrived off Uummannaq at 7 am and we went ashore for the moderate hike soon after 8 am. This was portrayed as a walk along a tarmac road and then maybe a bit on a dirt road . In the event turned out to be far from that., at one stage I almost turned back but decided to continue and really enjoyed it although the terrain was quite rough . Having got to our destination of a reservoir , the expedition team decided to carry on to the top of the hill so we actually did the same hike as a difficult hikers did, The view from the top was really worthwhile on the heart shaped mountain almost appeared without any clouds on top of it. The expedition team were excellent in making sure I managed all the difficult rocks, that was Jessica, Heather and Graham.

Once back in town we went into an old Greenlandic house which was remarkably large inside although only one room. Then we discovered Father Christmas's postbox. This was huge but had no means of putting a letter in so the boys were a bit, upset.

Went back aboard we went for a coffee in the panorama lounge hosted, supposedly by the hotel director but although she was there, she never said a word. We then went in search of Chloe who was meant to be hosting ping-pong in the show lounge but she was not there . So I went for a swim at midday as the ship started to move onwards. , the wind was very cold. Meanwhile David had tracked down Chloe and asked her to include Bridge for the following day.

We had a very pleasant lunch in the restaurant, then a short siesta before a talk. by the Taiwanese member of the expedition team on Greenlandic life.

At 3:30 pm we went for a wine tasting Chris being merely a spectator, though thoroughly enjoyed this. At six we went up to the observation lounge. for a meeting of well travelled guests. It was called Century Traveller Club, But this was a waste of time.

Then recap and briefing before canapés and dinner in La Terrassa. After this we retired to the Dolce Vita bar escaping from the noise of Chloe in our favourite panorama lounge. During the night the clock went back two hours.
