The clocks went back two hours overnight and we had a late breakfast in the restaurant at 8:30. This was a sea day so very little to do. Chris went for a stretching class in the fitness centre upon deck nine at 9:30 but could do very little of it and there was only one other person there anyway.
At 11 am, there was lecture by Leslie, a resident of Pond Inlet on some of the customs there.

Meanwhile we were crossing the Davis Strait and entering into Baffin Bay. There was a lot of wind and the outer decks were prohibited. At 12:15, I went to the conference room for a meeting of Bridge players but nobody else turned up. So we had lunch in La Terrassa for the first time, given that there was a Mexican buffet in the main restaurant. After this, we both had a siesta, before a talk at 2:30 pm, which was meant to be by the guest lecturer Margaret on archaeology, but was replaced at the last moment by lecture from Jessica on Greenland plants: I went to this but David stayed in the cabin. The intended lecturer was suffering from sea sickness
At 4 pm there was a lecture about ice by Hedda . She talked about ice crystals and it’s formations on lakes and water in the area. We then had a very light tea before returning for the recap and briefing at 5 pm.
At 6:30 pm there was a Venetian Society party. I talked to Jennifer, on entering this and found that they had given up on trying to retrieve her lost suitcase: she was quite depressed and had not been invited to dine with anybody this evening. We discovered that we were about the fifth most travelled people on the cruise. The first one having done 800+ days , at the end of the normal palaver I persuaded David to go and see the hotel director about Jennifer who had not been invited to dine with anyone. He managed to get her invited to the staff captains table which cheered her up enormously.. Meanwhile we were just invited to dine with Graham, one of the polar bear guards , who had been so good on the previous days hike. David was not happy with this relegation but the evening turned out very pleasant with just other one other guest at Graham‘s table, one Debbie who had not been on any Zodiac outings since boarding the ship on a zodiac with a very painful hip After a very pleasant meal, we went up to the panorama lounge and listened to Chloe and the guitarist singing.
