The ship arrived Ilulissat, the Greenlandic word for iceberg and the glacier here produces 20 million tons of ice every day.
After another quick breakfast in the Terrassa we went to shore by zodiac at 8 am and then transferred to a bus, fairly antiquated, which took us to another boat departure place on the other side of the bay . There we boarded a Greenland cruises boat, just big enough for eight of us, that took us on an 80 minute cruise round the ice field, with some fantastic icebergs and ice caves. It really was very impressive. The driver was from Nuuk and was interesting in his own right.

After this we were bused back to the other side of town and at 10:40 started out on the "30 minute walk" to the ice field centre. We eventually reached this after 45 minutes, and not the 30 minutes advertised, having to ask the way several times and the road was uphill for most of the walk . This centre/museum was very modern and quite impressive although it did not have all that much in it but there were lovely glass crystals with various things like soapstone stoves , Inuit tools, images of whales and fish, et cetera inside them

Once finished here we walked across its designer roof and then down a never ending boardwalk towards an inlet, a small bay. Then up some steps to a view over the glacier edge. From here David continued over difficult rocks to a viewpoint higher up where there was apparently a much needed seat for me. On the way back I managed a couple of rests on boulders which were beside the boardwalk. We eventually got back to the zodiacs at 1:40 and Chris was really tired. Once back aboard we had a hamburger up in hot rocks and then Chris had a siesta for over an hour.
There was a recap and briefing soon after six and we then enjoyed a quiet panorama lounge for a cocktail and canopies , before returning to the cabin for half an hour before dinner in the restaurant. We got up to the panorama lounge for Frederico’s show by 9.30, but he hung round for 15 minutes waiting for non existent guests to arrive
