When we then moved to Belfast in 1951 I attended Malone Primary School. This closed in summer of 1985, but photos of the old building do exist. At the age of 6, memories start happening, and I can still picture that building in my mind's eye
It was at the bottom of Balmoral Avenue, and seems now to have disappeared without trace
Single storey red brick school of Queen Anne character. Opened 12 Sep 1895. (Demolished.) and was built by the Malone Presbyterian Church, and the Methodist College on the Malone Road.
What little I can find on it online, indicates that the children were mainly from working class Protestant families, and that it was a pretty rough place
The efforts to keep the school open, failed and it closed in the summer of 1984
