Dublin, Ireland

June 6th

Once the ship docked in Dublin at 6 am we had to go through Irish passport control. David was not happy with this, having realised during the night that it was not necessary for Irish and British citizens. The Irish Immigration man confirmed this, but the jobsworth on the Silver Cloud Reception Desk refused to apologise - claiming that they took their instructions from Miami, and Miami were never wrong. We had a leisurely breakfast outside on the Terrazza and then sat out on the back deck of 8 before boarding the coach to the Anantara Marker hotel.

Once there we checked in our luggage and set out on an almost five hour tour on foot of Dublin.once back we had to join a long queue to. check in, and when we eventually got to our room, there was no, luggage and David had to search for that. Then he turned on the TV and there was a video showing with the general manager asking to be contacted if one had any problems. This was dutifully done, resulting in 2 x 20 euro glasses of champagne around 7pm.. before that we had had a walk around the Grand Canal. Basin, and we had another short walk afterwards. Then a roll and cheese and steak, plus fruit and coffee in the room. A relaxing bath and bed.

June 7th

We had a walk around Dublin, and lunch with Marie at one of the pizza places round the Canal Basin. When David went to order a taxi for the airport, we were delighted to be told that the hotel would pay, to compensate us for all our problems there.
