The swimming pool was rocking and rolling so I abandoned my daily swim. I washed my hair in honour of the wine pairing at 12 noon . 24 people went to this which was very sophisticated with the chef preparing a five course meal, this accompanied by five wines the last two of which were a château Latour 2010 and a château D’Yquem..

4/5 of the way through this a polar bear sighting was announced so we hurried the pudding and went up on deck But the Bears were on an island with the Sun behind them and were only visible in silhouette form. David saw just one but according to Dave, at the briefing , there were 21: we were somewhat dubious of this number. . In fact Pedro's official shot does show 5 more bears in the haze

Chris played Bridge for an hour and we had a cup of tea just before five and then watched a film about the alleged shooting of the Inuit dogs by the Royal Canadian mounted police back in the 60s .

Then recap and briefing and a cocktail in the panorama lounge before joining Bernardo, his wife Diane his sister Katerina and her husband Adrian for dinner in the restaurant this was most enjoyable

But we had to cut it short in order to go to the crew show. This was a slightly different format to what we had been used to, in that it was competitive and the rest of the crew voted for a winner. It was also over presented by Chloe which slightly detracted from it in Chris’s opinion. The winner was the Philippino nurse in the Medical Centre, and the runner up one of the engine room seamen. At the end we retired to the panorama lounge and enjoyed our cheese with a drink and coffee there .
