We were under way and it was very foggy when we woke up at 7:30. I went up for a swim but the pool was shut. We went to the restaurant for breakfast soon after eight and had a pleasant table there. Then from 930 till noon there was a mandatory Zodiac briefing, another briefing on the Arctic tourist requirements, an inspection of outside clothing to stop seeds being imported from outside and then at noon a boot renting procedure which annoyed us a lot as boots had always been provided free on expeditions before Royal Caribbean had taken over services. I had great problems finding boots that felt comfortable And I was able to get off without breaking my legs.

We arrived at Evighedsfjord Greenland - it translates ad Eternity Fjord, which is easier to remember, We were part of a group of 20 who had managed to sign up for a zodiac cruise with Hedda, a glaciologist member of the expedition team who was doing a citizen science project on glaciers. We landed on a mosquito ridden beach, but we had our protective hoods, purchased in 2008 in Australia. She flew a drone over the glacier to measure how much it has changed in the past two weeks and before that in the past year, following this we resume our zodiac cruise with Graham who was a good guide on both glaciers and and the volcanic Dykes in the rocks all around the Glacier. We really enjoyed this getting back to the ship just before 5 o’clock in time to enjoy an afternoon tea of an exceptionally good scone and clotted cream.
I then decided to have a swim but found that the pool was closed again and on questioning the guest relations manager ,she told us that there was too many chemicals in the water. Later on at dinner. The Hotel director came and apologised to us for this. At 6 o’clock there was a briefing from Dave Katz, the expedition leader, and people like the chef and the restaurant managers were introduced and then the vast expedition team. At 7:30 we went up to the Panorama lounge for a cocktail and canopies and then went into the main restaurant for dinner at 8:30. after this we retired back up to the Panorama Lounge where the dreaded Chloe, the entertainment hostess , was hosting a trivia, We enjoyed an after dinner drink in spite of the background noise
We sailed for Nuuk.
