The museum is a short walk from the entrance to Mdina. About 3 to 4 minutes.
It is in an impressive building. Inside there are the in-situ excavated remains of two mosaic floors. These are quite large in size, and have been well preserved. Basically these mosaics are the reason to come to the museum.
There is also a smatter of Roman finds from elsewhere in Malta The museum is padded out with wall mounted history boards.
The ticket desk was manned by two dour/sour/uninterested Heritage Malta employees who offer neither a welcome nor information. Regrettably this is true of most Heritage Malta sites. It would not take a lot from management to improve this aspect of the museum
I felt a visit here was worthwhile as it gave an insight to when, why and where the Romans lived and did in Malta
