We had two nights at the Il Palazzo Boutique Apartments at 62 Abbott St, Cairns. We had stayed there a few years ago, and stayed again as it has cooking facilities, is very central, and is a nice apartment. The ones overlooking the pool are the ones to go for. It had the additional advantage of only being 10 minutes walk from the quay where the Silver Discoverer would dock
So it was a question of wandering round the town, enjoying the odd ice cream. Chris liked the lido, complete with sandy beach
We also discovered RipCurl in town, which made a really nice range of leisure ware, and offered a wider choice of swim wear than is normal in Europe
