On arrival at Adelaide airport we had a kerfuffle with Hertz, who wanted to palm us off with a 2 wheel drive car, rather than the 4*4 that I had ordered. After 20 minutes of muttering they eventually "upgraded" us to a bigger 4*4 than I had actually ordered...and it was automatic!. Anyway I soon got used to it and it served us in Kangaroo Island and in the Flinders where we needed the extra grip of a 4*4.

We drove the short distance to Glenelg and we booked into the Best Western. Not usually my sort of hotel, but it was close to the airport, and enabled us to meet Sue and Pat Pearce for the evening. We got what we were looking for. A decent 'value for money' room. You drive in for free parking in the hotel courtyard, and though the spaces are tight, they were acceptable. The rooms are small, but adequate. We left early so did not take their breakfast. I probably would not want to stay a week here, but for a one night stay close to the airport, I was quite satisfied.

Pat picked us up from the hotel and we got a taxi back. We had a really nice evening at their house and Sue served us up a great seafood meal. Including a couple of fantastic bottles of unbadged Grange from a Rolls Royce driving friend of theirs.
